Visit the hills of rural Russia from the comfort of your sewing room as you create these adorable nesting dolls! The intricate designs of each of these Matryoshka dolls are based off of Khokhloma paintings and other folk art motifs from Russia and Eastern Europe. With swirling vines and leaves, the floral patterns on each doll will surely catch and entice anybody that sneaks a peak at them. Stumped on what colours to pick? Look at the folk art of Eastern Europe as inspiration. Khokhloma paintings traditionally have bright reds, warm yellows, and green accents on a black background. Other examples of folk art include bright blues, pinks, violets, and emeralds on black or white background that decorate traditional crafts. Search for colours that speak to you and stitch away!
