TOTALLY TOTEABLE FOR WINTER

PJ's in the Hoop

Since the Tote-ally Tote-able was such a hit and so much fun to make, it
only seemed fitting for a winter version, and here it is!
This in-the-hoop project, just as its predecessor, consists of 9 different blocks, each done with a front and lining fabric and a firm fleece inner piece for body. The blocks are joined in rows in the hoop, then with some simple sewing as instructed in the tutorial, the rows are joined to form the tote’s front and back, which are then sewn together to form the final bag. The largest blocks require a 6”x6” embroidery field and the others require a 5”x7” hoop. The final bag measures 12.5” tall and 15” across, not counting the handles, which can be self-fabric or purchased. The blocks for the winter version feature stippling that forms a trapunto effect snowflake, which is also outlined with a tiny decorative stitch to create additional dimension. The sample is done with wool felt for the front fabric, but cottons or denim or suede would work well, too. Since we certainly have items to tote around all year ‘round, why not have a tote bag that matches the season--and don’t forget those special folks on the Christmas list who would love one, too!
