The vivid illustrations seen on these quilt blocks are sure to transport you to the African plains! The exotic and beautiful artwork in this quilting collection was inspired by the famous works of African artist Edward Saidi Tingatinga. Tingatinga’s artistic style is iconic and easily recognizable, featuring surreal imagery and caricature-like illustrations of many African animals. The whimsical look to the art was immediately adored by tourists and residents alike. Consequently, Tingatinga’s style was perfected and taught to other artists in Tanzania, ensuring every work of art produced followed his vision of quality and craftsmanship.
Anita wanted to pay homage to this beautiful genre of art by replicating the style of Tingatinga’s works in a quilting collection. By using sunset-inspired fabrics in our background folds, the embroidery and appliqué designs will take on a new life in their Savanna Sunset settings! Stitch these blocks out as a full quilt, or create a statement piece perfect for any room!
